Founded
by Lynn Price in 1995, Camp To Belong was created out of
Lynn's own childhood experience in the foster care system.
At the age of 8, Lynn learned that she had a biological sister
living on the other side of town!
However, with limited visits throughout their childhood, Lynn and
sister Andi only developed a solid friendship as young adults. As
their friendship continues to deepen, they realize how much they
love and need each other, while sadly realizing how much they missed
growing up apart.
With this aching etched in Lynn's heart, she founded CAMP TO BELONG
and works full time in an effort to give brothers and sisters an
opportunity to create childhood memories.
As a spirited team, Lynn and Andi encourage brothers and sisters
to cherish and support each other, while giving them hope through
their journey in the system.
Andi, Lynn's Sister
Lynn salutes Andi and her love for special education:
Andi has been a special educator for over 25 years teaching people
with special needs from kindergarten to adult. She volunteered in
high school and college along with summer
breaks at a residential camp for campers who had cerebral palsy.
She advocates for the rights for all individuals, believing no
one is better than anyone else and that we are all deserve the right
to live our lives to our fullest potential.
Andi loves to educate others and along with her day time teaching
youth, she also teaches a class to future special educators at Northern
Illinois University. Lynn is proud of her sister, her passion for
special education and her dedication to Camp To Belong.
