CAMP TO BELONG IS COMING TO GEORGIA!

Well it’s finally happening; Camp To Belong is coming to the South!  Camp To Belong Georgia has begun its initial start up phase.  With the CTB office located out of Woodstock, Georgia, planning has commenced to hold our first summer camp in the summer of 2008!

Discussions are already underway with a local camp facility to be the home of Camp To Belong Georgia.  Our goal is to hold our first summer camp program June 2008 (date subject to change).  Further, we are in the midst of forming the steering committee and are currently seeking committee volunteers.  We’ve made great strides in Georgia thus far and are beginning to build great relationships with DFCS, CASA and other local community partners.

CAMP TO BELONG IS COMING TO GEORGIA!Fundraising is also underway, with our Inaugural Swing for Sibs Charity Golf Tournament planned for Tuesday, August 21, 2007.

This shot-gun tournament will be held at one of Georgia’s Top 10 Public Courses - The Golf Club at Bradshaw Farm. Set against the backdrop of the North Georgia Mountains, this unique 27-hole layout is one of the most challenging courses in the area.  The tournament will begin at 12:30 pm with an awards ceremony following.

Registration is $125 per player and sponsorships are available.  If you are interested in being a sponsor, forming a team, donating prize items, or volunteering, please contact or call 678-595-6062.

WHY GEORGIA

There are over 15,000 youth in foster care in the state of Georgia.  30% of those children have been in foster care more than 24 months and it is estimated that 75% of those with siblings are separated from at least one sibling.

Camp to Belong Georgia will have an ongoing commitment, 365 days a year, to educate the nation regarding the plight of siblings separated through foster care as well as provide programs that support foster sibling connections. Future year round programming for Georgia’s foster siblings is currently being planned.  Outings and events such as Six Flags Sibling Day, Friday Night Reunites, Sibs Go to Game Day, as well as connection activities like Journal Connections, SibsBlog and many others are being considered.

If you live in the state of Georgia and would like more information on how to contribute, support or volunteer with Camp To Belong Georgia, please email Jennifer Giacoletto, Program Director or call 678-595-6062.
